Grant and scholarship recipients
are selected on the following criteria: Eligibility will be open
to graduate students and junior and senior scholars, holding academic
or academic-related positions, interested in American and comparative
political history or areas relevant to the general understanding
of American political culture, especially 20th century history,
although not solely limited to this century. Selection of grant
and scholarship recipients are based on previous academic performance,
as evidenced in scholastic records, list of publications, and academic
vitae. Samples of previous written work undergo review. In addition,
letters of recommendation may be considered when appropriate.
The approximate number of scholarships and grants
will vary from year to year depending on the resources and activities
of the foundation. At this time, the Institute provides limited
awards for research travel, attending conferences, and support of
writing projects. Awards in the past have been up to $1500.
No members of the selection committee or relatives
of the selection committee, board of directors, or officers of the
foundation are eligible for grants and scholarships given or administered
through the Institute.
